Thailand's Amphon Maneerat leads ASM Malaysia
After last week's stunning victory in the 2006 ASM Singapore - www.asm-singapore.com Thailand's Amphon Maneerat has once again taken an early lead in the US$100,000 purse 2006 Asian Senior Masters @ Malaysia at Palm Garden Golf Club in Putrajaya, Malaysia.
Maneerat continued his good form by firing a course record 67 in a morning round played in perfect weather conditions. Maneerat says he is "very excited about the weekend and would love to win back-to-back tournaments this week".
Following closely behind Maneerat was Asian Seniors Tour newcomer Eduardo Bagias Jr from the Philippines firing an impressive 68. One shot further behind was another Asian Seniors Tour newcomer from Australia, David Hutchison, on 69.
Malaysia should be truly proud of their recently turned senior, Nazamuddin Yusof from Tanjong Puteri Golf Resort in Johor who returned a sensational 69 on his Asian Seniors Tour debut.
In close proximity is the Thailand's senior, Sutep Boonpimuk, with a 2 under 70
Amnart Kerdkrasin (Thailand), Chang Chin Kuo (Chinese Taipei), Masahiro Tokunaga (Japan) and
Trevor Downing (Australia) all fired rounds of 71, as did the defending 2005 ASM @ Malaysia Champion, Stewart Ginn (Australia).
In today's amateur 2006 ASM @ Malaysia Amateur Semi Finals, the 2005 ASM Malaysia Amateur Champion, Feldman Tan from Singapore easily qualified for Sunday's ASM Malaysia Amateur grand final by returning a fine score of 73, taking first place in the Friday Semi-finals.
Singapore's Open Amateur Champion, and 2003 ASM Singapore Amateur Champion, Choo Tze Huang will play in tomorrow's Semi-finals and will be hoping to challenge Feldman, and Malaysia's leading amateurs, in the Sunday Amateur Final.
