Player Profile

Enjoyed one of his best seasons in senior golf in 2004, finishing joint third in the Ryder Cup Wales Seniors Open and recording five other top-ten finishes on his way to 15th place on the Order of Merit, his best finishing position since 2001, the year he won for the first time when he defeated America’s Bob Lendzion in a play-off for the Tunisian Seniors Open.

Won twice on The European Tour in the 1974 German Open and the 1976 Double Diamond (stroke play), but he is best remembered for finishing second behind Jack Nicklaus in the 1978 Open Championship at St Andrews.

Represented New Zealand in three World Cups, two Alfred Dunhill Cups and was a regular on the Australasian and Asian Tours for many years. Turned 50 in December 2000 and promptly won the 2001 New Zealand Seniors PGA Championship by ten shots from Barry Vivian, before selling his farm to finance his first sortie on the European Seniors Tour.

Was the European Seniors Tour Rookie of the Year in 2001.

Simon is looking forward to making his Asian Seniors Tour debut.
