Ross made an outstanding start to his European Seniors Tour career when he won twice during his rookie season in 1999 at the De Vere Hotels Seniors Classic and the Belfry PGA Seniors Championship but he has subsequently been plagued by back problems which were responsible for him slipping to 24th place on the Order of Merit in 2000 and 56th in 2001.
The Australian's best performances during 2001 came when he finished tied for 17th at both the Energis Senior Masters and the TEMES Seniors Open but he also missed four cuts, including three out of his first four starts at the beginning of the season. Ross has a reputation for being a fine coach and teaches Stephen Leaney, Jarrod Moseley and a number of the other leading young Australian Tour players. He won a number of Australasian Tour events in the 1970s and 1980s.
Ross played in the 2003 Asian Senior Masters and the 2005 & 2006 Asian Senior Masters Malaysia.
